A COMMUTER’S NIGHTMARE, SOLVED!
“I’ll just let traffic die down a bit” is an anthem by 9-5 workers in the metro after their shifts. This is the harsh reality of most commuters in Metro Manila. With traffic wasting hours of our time, it’s no surprise that commuters are opting to buy their own motorcycles to weave through traffic.
While there are a lot of brand choices in the 110cc-150cc category, Yamaha’s strength in providing a wide range of scooters is without a doubt a solid choice for potential buyers. But in Yamaha’s arsenal, there are two particular models that strike the fancy of buyers looking for a stylish ride – The Yamaha Mio Fazzio & The Yamaha PG-1.
DO THE LOOKS JUSTIFY THE ENGINE?
We all agree that the PG-1 and the Fazzio are among the top head turners on the road, but do the looks justify the specs? With the Fazzio boasting a 125cc, and the PG-1 with a quaint 115cc engine, both motorcycles are not winning any speed races. The PG-1 has a 4-speed semi-automatic transmission, while the Fazzio has a CVT transmission, which translates to two very different riding experiences. If you’re a beginner with little to no experience with riding a motorcycle, the Fazzio’s automatic transmission would be perfect and less straining on long commutes; not to mention the shallow learning curve. However, the PG-1’s semi-automatic transmission leads to a more exciting and adventurous ride. For seasoned riders, both motorcycles offer a pleasant ride that can definitely make commuting feel like a minor bump on the road to home.

There is a difference between having and owning a motorcycle. Having a motorcycle simply means that you have acquired one – but owning is customizing to reflect your own personality; may it be through practical accessories, or something purely aesthetic. The world of customizing is a deep rabbit hole many hobbyists happily dive in. The PG-1 and the Fazzio are the prime candidates for customization in the retro and rugged style category.
From frame guards to saddle bags, the PG-1 community regards the “off-road camper build” as the peak look of their favorite moped scrambler. Dirt and dust will absolutely add to the signature ruggedness of this little adventurer.
The Fazzio boasts a wide array of color choices that can surely complement any aesthetic choice. With their retro design that reflects a youthful soul, riders will definitely enjoy curating a signature look that will turn the heads of passersby!
A RIDE FULL OF POSSIBILITIES
Being able to skip traffic is only a small (but significant!) part of owning a motorcycle. What most riders gleefully enthuse about in coffee shops are the lifestyle possibilities each motorcycle can offer. The PG-1’s design is clearly geared towards exploring the road less traveled and a promise of a life filled with adventure and is actually one of the reasons why it’s so popular in off roading communities.
The Fazzio, with its modern features such as a charging port, plenty of storage, and the controversial Y-Connect, gives comfort and efficiency to the commuter in the urban jungle. It exudes a youthful promise of convenience and an easy life in the fast lane.
Whatever your choice is, you will never lose with these two models. Just remember that you’re not only choosing a motorcycle – you’re choosing a lifestyle.
